about TRUST! As a society we are too trusting in oh so many ways and in the wrong
direction! Leaving residential doors and
our cars unlocked, placing your wallet, pocketbook, Smartphone, Phablet, Tablet
or Laptop on a counter and turning your back.
Then there is the Wi-Fi Hot Spots that entice you and foolishly, we, us,
are all guilty of using for convenience, never listening to logic or reason!
Take a good
look the next time you are in one of those anti-social coffee shops on who is
sitting inside and importantly, who is lurking in a vehicle looking like they are
doing paperwork in the parking lot. They are not! They are tapped into the coffee shop Wi-Fi
and looking inside your personal and corporate information and stealing it. Then, they hitch a ride into all that you,
your family and corporation hold sacred through the power of the Information
Super Highway.
That is
just the surface of the vulnerability of our personal and corporate information
and it starts with YOU!
Just who is
protecting your interest, which by the way starts at home? Who are these executives who supposedly are all
knowing of every single crevice, nook and cranny of Hackers, Phishers and Man in the Middle Thieves? No corporation on this earth has the budget
or staff to protect their data and information just for their company. In most cases they are being reactive to
attacks and fighting the clock, disgruntled clients and Presidents, CEO’s and
V.P.’s who have not one iota of understanding of the daily issues or as we have
found, are so flippant to the situation they believe they above and it will
never happen to them.
The nomadic
nature of government, city, and county management is also prevalent in the
world of finance. They are always
looking for the next best thing before someone finds out that they are incompetent
in their job and are using old techniques that worked back in the day and they
are lazy enough to never keep up-to-date.
Why?
Simple, they think that as an executive or head of an IT Department they
can waffle their way through with their specialized language and bamboozle
everyone. Once the pressure is placed on
them, they go to the Head Hunter and move on, to start all over again and take
their outdated solutions and stock options with them.
The finance
industry is the worst and are not addressing the issues. Leadership is out of step and wallowing in
their false success. Perfect example is
the retail hacking event, starting with Target.
It was not Target that was totally at fault, the credit/debit card
industry was. Yes, the bank! Although the retail industry needs to listen
to us and improve their data security and enjoy a customer service experience
that they never knew existed, with a solution we have for them. The investment, depending on their size, is
pennies per customers.
Why is
America still using archaic magnetic strip and pin method of security? It is so unsafe and the out datedness is
sickening, harmful and a disgrace!
The first
mass use of the smart cards (chipped) was as a telephone card for
payment in French pay phones, starting in 1983. Smart-card-based
"electronic purse" systems store funds on the card so that readers do
not need network connectivity. They entered European service in the mid-1990s.
US Banks
say it is too expensive, for who? We know
what you do, you pass the cost on and allow the person who has deposited their
monies for you store and use for making profits to pay the conversion!
No, we are
not annoyed or vexed, just passionate about doing it right and
protecting those that are TRUSTING you.
I guarantee
that there are some right now wanting to shoot the messenger for stating facts,
well-known facts which are logical and have the solution right at their
fingertips. The message is clear and
those that voice disgust of us stating these issues, are the problem!
One will be a Bank in Utah with a Phishing issue for their clients, who are oblivious to the truth and did not like being told the facts. The president could not wait to get off the phone call! You need to listen to those that know and understand that those that are in the banking business and in most cases see the computer as a nuisance.
