To Some, Friday Cannot Come Soon Enough! British Election MisFire! Excuse Factor of the Day?

British Election MisFire!
Excuse Factor of the Day?
.By Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

Why is the world full of excuse creating people?

Do not blame the British Election, Comey on Donald Trump or a European group of numskulls who act like lemmings, looking for a cliff to throw themselves off.

It has been a week of WTF!

The tragedies are also in our thoughts with a more serious concern and of course our prayers for those that were caught up in the Islamist Terror.

Dismay is an excellent term for those who have no business sense and run their nations to line their own pockets at your expense.

They say knowledge is power, why then, do people find lame excuses not to do something and pre-judge the requester?

Is it ignorance or do they know not what they do?

So where am I going with this?

Simple, in our line of business (Crime/Predictive Analytics, Community Crime Mapping, Social Media Interaction, Fraud and Community Rejuvenation), we are viewed by some, as a threat, a threat against the pure insecurity of the individual’s job.  They think we are going to take it away, in what in their mind, is rightfully theirs.

“It is better to offer no excuse than a bad one.”
George Washington

Or…

“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.”
Benjamin Franklin

I have heard excuses from professionals worldwide and I must admit in my early days, I might have used a few myself.  The difference is, someone showed me the errors of my ways.  We are never too old or stubborn to continue learning.

Yesterday was a prime example of a “pre-judger”, when someone starts the conversation with the word’s “I am the assistant *****, and have been told to call you, this some sort of sales call, looked at your web and we don’t have the budget, so we are not interested.”  I know that I am dealing with a person who is pre-judgmental and is totally insecure.  In fact, they may have drawn the short straw and was told to get rid of me.

Firstly, budget issues are a non-starter, to begin with!  Of course, it is not in the budget, you have not had the common sense to even listen to what it is and I can tell, that being a mind reader, is not on the resume.  Making the statement it is some sort of sales call, is used as a “put-down” in most cases, an insult if you like.

We would have no world without salesmen and women!  It is a world of marketing from the day you are born, ‘til the day you die and someone sold your family the funeral package, including the urn, casket, headstone and the dead floral arrangements.

I feel so sorry for the pre-judgers of the world and those they represent.  In a, protect and serve situation, this is dangerous for the citizenry and the fellow workers.  To refuse to meet with someone or an entity that is a successful part of society, who is not wanting to take away the, so called power of authority, but to enhance and assist a community to be safer, is foolish and an insult to those they supposedly serve.

The CommSmart Global Group  Group of Companies is a Circle of Fire in the quiver of public safety, which includes law enforcement, EMS, Fire and all parts of government that interface with the public.  Professionals, through and through and are able to take, the so-called slighted remarks, of those that really do not understand the world of law enforcement in the year 2017 and beyond.  It is they that slapped the faces of their citizens, you missed my cheek completely.

I will tell you, our team, across the country and around the world, are passionate about what we do.  We are serious in the regard of solving the crime, understanding the now of events.  As former law enforcement, which the majority of our staff are, we have the empathy of the situation.  Our low key, listening, and understanding is like no other company in this industry of public safety, we care from the bottom our hearts, living and breathing the day to day events of professional public safety officials and their hierarchy of management.

Just because of a couple of us, I included, have strong British accents, don’t think we are trying to, tell you what to do, or just because we are from the other side of the pond, we have no idea of how it is done in this country of the USA.  This is our country, we live here and are dedicated to making the communities we live in, safer for all.

Where was I? Oh, back to the individual that started all of this yesterday. What you did is proving my point, excuses do not cut it in 2017.  I am able to face the individuals, shake their hand, sit across the table and be logical human beings, who can learn from each other and impart knowledge and understanding, that there are others that know more than us and are willing to share.

“Do not make excuses, whether it's your fault or not.”
George S. Patton Jr.

So is there an assistant *****, or mayor of a city that would like to start over and support the citizens of their municipality with law enforcement tools that can make life safer, more cost effect with the resources and up to speed on the daily changes in the world?  Or do I just use my favorite four letter word?

NEXT!

Collecting the Chatter on the Streets, Atmospherics Is Serious Business!

CommSmart Global Group People...

We are surrounded with information to the point that most of us, including government and corporate intelligence units, are on overload and bursting at the seams with data, they know not what to do with.

Many believe you can stockpile information until it is signaled that it is required to be sifted through and analyzed.  Data silos are useless and a complete waste of money, time and effort.  Information needs to be actively analyzed in real time and that is exactly what CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solutions Partner does.

The reasons we commercialized Atmospheric Noise Collection & Gathering, was with military and law enforcement requirements, in knowing all the intelligence on the streets in the early days of growing communities and of course at times of war or conflict.

This is our Frontline capability to utilize the people in the know, within the communities, cities, and nations, who, report back their street level findings.  Seriously vetted individuals who care and report it all, the good the bad and the downright ugly.

It is about understanding society, a government cannot govern unless they know what the people are discussing, wanting and demanding.  If you go on your merry way and ignore the facts of the streets, you end up, with the people rising against you.  The Arab Spring was more than a surprise, it was a disastrous shock, which took all unawares and looks at the results, which are continuing to reverb around the world.

Collecting the Chatter on the Streets which includes social media, like Twitter, Facebook etc., is only the second model that we install.  First, we must make sure that management understands their Leadership role and how they will Communicate this new real-time information in a feasible and productive manner to be effective.

Now we can start to collect the information and analyze in real time.  It is not just the spoken word within conversations, it is the whole Social Media World, which is much more than Twitter, Facebook, Google + and Myspace.

The ability to use our Social Media Intelligence (SMI) solution, all compliantly scrapes and sifts through the unsocial thumbing world, which includes Social Connections, Blogs, and Personal Websites, sifting among the common themes and threads, on a local and worldwide basis is key to information gathering that will enable the correct and meaningful decisions, acceptable by all.  It is only then you can begin to understand the massive amount of information at your fingers, enabling the correct actions.

The CommSmart Global Group Analytics then kicks into gear.  The proprietary software developed over forty years of information collection, merged with law enforcement and intelligence-gathering expertise, has enabled us to design an easy and logical flow of collection, input and importantly, output.

This includes our Next Event Predictability Solutions, enabling the use of resources in a profitable manner.  Predicting events, crime patterns and outcomes has become our norm with our gathered and analyzed information.

Too many analysts complain over report creation overload, not in our case!  The hundreds of report capabilities are at your analyst’s fingertips and can even be customized even further.  Our ability to analyze the narrative of reports enables a further level of understanding and in many cases is the decisive application tool.  This flexibility is second to none and developed from within, we listen, observe and discuss with the ever changing street information and convert these facts to solutions.

It is our diverse team that has placed us fairly and squarely at the forefront of true real time street information collection to actionable reporting.  We are talking about automatic reporting with report formatting that takes far less time and delivers automatically into the hands of the management decision makers, which can now act with confidence on the information in their hands.  In fact, compared with all other analytic software, we are reverse in time spent in creating and delivering reports to those wanting to be in the know.

CommSmart Global Group Analytics only requires way under 15% of the analyst’s time for report generation or less.

Mentioning the team, it is comprised of personnel that brings decades of street level experience and worldwide connections.  Diverse in age, nationality, gender, and experiences, which allows for our overall understanding of the world and local situations.  There is no them or us syndrome, it is an all approach that makes the difference.  We are all in, working cohesively by using all forms of communications, no matter where in the world we are located.  It is our 24/7/365 coverage that is our key to your success.

The training of street-level associates has been perfected and we pride that selection and vetting abilities has become an art form and a science.  We even market our leadership, communications and recruitment processes.

We are very private in our work ethic and can be described as an evolution in information gathering, analyzing and dissemination.  So, for public safety crime statistics, social chatter, public opinions, and views, especially for election manifest creation and really knowing the pulse of the people, we have the key.

No government agency has our capabilities in seeking the facts in real time.  It is our down to earth approach with our listening ears, which is attached to today’s ever-changing technology with visionary intellect.

Simply, WE are in the NOW and KEEP YOU; IN the KNOW…

No matter where you are in the world, we have the reach and abilities to assist you.

Where Are the Smoke Signals? Information Is King, Street Level Knowledge Is Power...

Where Are the Smoke Signals?
Information Is King, Street Level Knowledge Is Power...
By Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

Man has been communicating since time began.  The sounds of drums from within the jungle, the Native American Indian sending smoke signals from one valley to the next, the Town Crier, ringing his bell and posting a notice in the town square, Pony Express riding through the valleys of Utah and beyond, the Telegraph sending short concise snippets of information, the local rag (Newspaper) being sold on street corners, and televisions at tea time bringing us the local, national and globe news.  All means of disseminating information, old information, that is far from up to the minute.

Along comes the Internet, which changed how information was accessed.  The San Jose Mercury was one of the first newspapers on the web, via AOL in the early 90’s, still old news, as it was the gathered information by reporters that had been published in their newspaper that day.  It was a start by the old fashion and stable news business.

Cable News Network (CNN) was founded in 1980 by Ted Turner and 25 other original members, who invested $20 million into the network. Upon its launch, CNN was the first station to provide 24-hour television news coverage and the first all-news television network in the United States. While the news network had numerous affiliates, CNN primarily broadcasts from its headquarters at the CNN Center in Atlanta.

Turner could not have succeeded without Walter Sneed III, who owned a satellite farm in the heart of Atlanta, where signals from the world were collected and beamed everywhere.  I know Walt and understand this man’s mind, a down to earth guy that changed the whole vista of news gathering.  It is the likes of Walt, that make the difference in so much as, they understand at a different level of what is required, the street level, where it all begins.
It is about cohesive teamwork, not one man or entity has all the answers and never will.  Some might have brilliant foresight, but lack, all the answers.

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was one, an Italian Renaissance polymath: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist, and writer. Only a few have happened in this extremely young world.

So what has changed?

CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solutions Partner and its division, Red Tagged Atmospherics have combined to bring you an innovative information gathering solution.

The world still has wars and disagreements, people are killing people, con-artists are still plying their trade and politicians are continuing to argue who is right and who has the better political platform for the people.  Even constitutions are being compromised by so-called self-righteous leaders who alter people’s rights for so-called protective actions, in the name of the country.

The reason for my pre-amble is to allow you to understand that information is not as fresh as you might think.  It is as old as the fresh vegetables in the supermarket, which travel hundreds, if not thousands of miles to be cooked in the kitchens of the world.  Not fresh at all!

The loaf of bread, left on the shelf and not eaten, goes stale, grows green stuff and is discarded and was no good to anyone.  That is what news is when it is not actioned.  A total waste that could have done so much good.

The sell by date is on milk is for a reason, if do not refrigerate and use by the date on the plastic or cardboard container, it is no good to anyone.  That is true of information also.

A perfect example of old news is the doctor’s office, the magazines, never a new one, always old and never current.  While we step through life, information surrounds us, although we might be tuned in, it is being collected for us to listened or watched at a later date.  We are all so behind the times.

That has all changed!

The collection of information by the American government has highlighted to some, the methods that government will go to, in snooping on its own citizens.  When politicians wish to be elected, they banter words around, make speeches and use the word TRUST so many times or it is in your best interest.  No, it is not, as it is old information, old news and about as useful as the newspaper that the British wrap their Fish and Chips in.

It is now because of the spotlight on information gathering that we inform you of a whole different and up to the minute means to have the information from the streets at your fingertips, actionable in real time, with real results.  In fact, information so fresh, Benghazi would not have happened, the Arab Spring would not have hold of the Middle East as it does today.  Iraq, Syria, Turkey, and Iran would be settled and stable, instead of rocking all our worlds.

The latest global ISIS attacks show how we must improve Street Level Information Gathering, Atmospherics.  These radicals have to monitored, stopped and removed.  This why our Social Media Interaction tools are so effective.

Our Global team has been at the forefront of analytics, tracking, Social Media Monitoring and Next Event Predictability and the means to bring street level information to all.  Collecting the information is the easy part, Digital Pen/Paper, Laptop, Tablet, Smart Mobile Phone, all within reach of all.

It is all to do with a combined solution through our proven analytics, street information gathering abilities of the last twenty plus years, we bring you:

Combining our proven technologies of real-time data collection, even as simple as a digital pen and paper, directly into the secure database for analytical real-time manipulation.

Now, this information is sent securely via encrypted mobile solutions from anywhere in the world anonymously and without a trace.  This has far reaching ramifications for security situations for events, public safety street level information flow and intelligence gathering.

From the base Atmospherics, Red Tagged provides insight into local perspectives, indicates opinion trends, identifies emerging community influencers, measures messaging effectiveness and puts disparate intelligence reports in context.

Red Tagged would have easily and accurately predicted the majority of the Middle Eastern countries’ populaces’ unstoppable move to revolution. In the case of Iran, Syria, and Bahrain, the government was able to react with a mixture of messaging and direct action to marginalize the atmospheric “noise” that existed at the outset. In the other examples, the government simply failed to understand the power of the population, and the messaging that did resonate globally. Direct action was met with international criticism, and the results speak for themselves.

The need for comprehensive atmospherics and information transmission in today’s rapidly changing world has never been more profound.

Events in the Middle East and Africa, for example, were misread and mishandled as there was no real understanding of the peoples’ perception and the effect of a population’s inertia. Traditional government suppression methods simply do not work in the 21st century. A world economy requires worldwide acceptance of a government’s actions and reactions to its people. The proliferation of communication tools, cameras, cell phones, social media and emerging roles of new media (e.g., Al Jazeera) ensure that the world hears and sees what used to be kept quietly confined to a region. The immediacy with which the international community reacts to events has also increased. A simple event, coupled with a population’s simmering opinions, can lead to revolution overnight – and we have all seen this occur in the past 18 months with the above countries as examples.

When a protest occurs in a given country, what is the potential for revolution or regime change? Is the protest an anomaly or is there popular support for the cause, and how committed is the population toward the cause? What is the word on the street? What about religious messaging? What is the real effect of the religious messaging on the average person? These are very common questions to interested parties, commercial and government, and atmospherics can answer those questions very quickly and accurately.

Atmospherics has been demonstrated to have significant value-add in military engagements in Afghanistan and Iraq; providing contextual backgrounds for intelligence and combat operations; both with unconventional elements and conventional Army units. As new areas of interests emerged into the US policy landscape, early deployment of atmospheric teams illuminated otherwise unknown issues affecting a population, identified key emerging leaders, and provided the foundation of the “picture on the ground” that ultimately giving policy makers and battle space owners a more complete, rich picture upon which to base planning and decision making. There were profound discoveries within the atmospheric community during its infancy in the context of a wartime application that alluded to its value outside a military application.

The value proposition of RED TAGGED Atmospherics is twofold; first, the reporting methodology provides new data sets on a daily basis. For trending purposes, there is no substitute whatsoever for fresh, real-time data, and atmospherics provides that. Messaging feedback is received instantly, and messaging/perception management teams can execute to address specific local needs.

Secondly, specific needs can be addressed and answered in a very timely manner. For example, if a national leader were to meet with local community influencers, the current public opinion needs to be measured to ensure he meets with the “real” versus traditional players. Feedback on specific topics can be obtained from a wide range of socio-economic, political, religious and other demographics as needed.

CommSmart Global Group, with the Atmospheric solution, is committed to providing very high-quality operators, extensively trained, with the best tools to supporting atmospheric operations.

Our typical Atmospherics Manager is a former Special Forces or SAS operator with extensive experience operating with indigenous troops in a foreign area.

Specific industry experts that are cross-trained in atmospherics can target specific industries; health care and legal are two such examples.
Thorough pre-planning and immersion training prior to deployment is a standard part of our methodology, in conjunction with cultural studies, local and national history, economics, religion and language training.

The key to success and client value is careful selection of the right people to respond to a client’s need.

The low-profile nature of this program and the fact that locals are greatly utilized to collect and aggregate the reports ensure that we analyze data that is robust and confirmed. Our teams are carefully built and managed to ensure that the program builds on strength and capabilities over time, not burn out or produce “same old” reporting.

Our management overhead is very small, ensuring that the customer receives full value for his expense. We spend our budgets on collection assets, and the proof is in the expansive and constantly refreshing data sets.

There are additional services that CommSmart Global Group with the Red Tagged Atmospheric solutions can provide in addition to Atmospheric Collection; our experience and networks within the Human Intelligence community have led us to identify emerging leaders in perception management systems, social media monitoring reach-back centers, messaging experts and other best-of-breed operations that if needed, would be able to greatly leverage the existing datasets into new products. Most of our operators are experienced platform instructors and can staff and train up a customers’ atmospheric program, tailored to meet the client’s specific needs.

The strength of the CommSmart Global Group ensures that our Atmospheric Managers can insert quickly and leverage existing networks to build out atmospherics team very quickly.

Stacking atmospherics and additional services or programs is part of our operational requirement on every engagement; we specialize and work with other specialty organizations to fulfill our clients’ needs.

Human Terrain Systems and other population monitoring programs are not designed to provide neither daily reporting nor daily analysis. These programs have value, but they should not be confused nor utilized in place of a dynamic atmospherics program. Joined, these two programs were found to be highly effective when the data was joined at fusion cells. Atmospherics is being used today to assess the population’s perception of the Rule of Law in an area where considerable investment is being considered. The atmospherics data is being combined with a threat assessment. Stacking atmospherics with other value-add programs increases the client’s understanding of the risk and opportunity at a relatively small project cost.

CommSmart Global Group has created the solution that has been searched for, for decades.  It is the NOW Factor and our appetite for information in real time that has driven us to develop this ability, using proven in-house technology.

RED TAGGED ATMOSPHERICS is so cutting edge it breaks the mold of Breaking News!

It brings our Physical & Cyber Analytics, Next Event Predictability capabilities, to the next level of information usage.  It is something we have only dreamed of, now, we have the reality and shows how data collection can be utilized for productive secure capabilities.

What Does Being "KNOWN' By The Police Really Mean?

What Does Being "KNOWN' By The Police Really Mean?
by Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

The 'Bucket Bomber' was known and released several weeks ago!  Society has changed and deals in slipt second decisions without all the facts!

It is a digital age and not one of 'Go Fish' for information, law enforcement MUST change to a data/information repository as we at CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solution Partner have developed and is in effect in the USA!

The Triangulation of Digital Policing & Crime Fighting (Read)

This killer also was also known but had broken no laws. he legally purchased guns and ammo and had been visited by law enforcement for discharging a firearm at his house.  He had broken no laws but is daily actions for months were strange.

Is being strange against the law?  Depends on what you mean by strange! People must report concerns there is no time to evaluate when guns and bombs are going off!

Confirmed reports of at least one of the Islamist terrorist from the London Bridge Murders was "KNOWN" to the local police and Counterterrorism Units. Simply meaning a connection to others, events, conversation or writings associate the individual with known terror or criminal sympathizers.

Even documentary footage has been found and his words of support for Islamic ideology have now been uncovered.

As always, SOMEONE KNEW SOMETHING!

The police forces of the world cannot and never will be everywhere and all knowing.  It is impossible, that is why we must have our SNITCHERS, GRASSES, and INFORMANTS

The world turns and revolves on an information and a communication chain. Right hand knowing what the left hand is doing, you know the routine.

There is a major concern that we must be "Politically Correct" in our actions and words when it comes to Peoples Rights.  Wrong, when life and limb are concerned, whatever means necessary must taken to protect all.

Words of politicians such as "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" or "THE BLOODSHED MUST END" are all well and good, but do nothing for the real issues of those that are inciting and recruiting others to carry out terror attacks on human beings globally.

Religious leaders who preach hate and death to others must be stopped, removed from their pulpits and charged accordingly to the laws of the land. They are as guilty as the suicide bomber, knife welding jihadist or bomb maker.

Political Correctness has no place in today's bloody world!

So being "KNOWN" is common practice among Islamist Terrorists, just like the "KNOWN" figures in the IRA (Irish Republican Army).  Back in the heyday of IRA bombings, we knew who was in the leadership and responsible for killings and were politically gagged in doing the right thing.  Some of those today are now in governmental leadership positions and still organizing!

Fighting terrorism with both hands tied behind your back is not ever going to be successful.  The hands must be "FREE" enabling proactive sequences to stop these morons with their supposed righteous ideology and cultural messages of hate.

These are not empty words of some "do-gooders", we speak with knowledge and proactive authoritative successful actions.  Knowing both sides of the issues and what works and does not work.  As communicators who listen to all and collectively have the abilities to place into action the necessary next moves are available and working already in over 1,000 police agencies.

WE call it ATMOSPHERICS, the Art of Communications and have proved the success in Iraq & Afghanistan in gleaning and gathering solid information and acting upon.  Today, the USA is benefiting from our successes.

For twenty-one years we have been at the forefront of analytics, both criminal and predictive with the full understanding of the social aspects of today's communications tools, "Social Media Interactions".

The time has come to throw away the "FEAR FACTOR" of making the decision on allowing those that have proven track records, for collective criminal and public data.  The third part of the triangulation puzzle, social media, the world of "Fingers & Thumbs", which is how Islamist terrorist communicate.  They must be brought into the daily spotlight of Atmospherics.

CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solutions Partner has more data at hand, it is billions of records with full link analysis, negating the "go fish" approach of police agencies today.  The U.K. can have full capabilities within months.  Allowing for all information to be securely at the fingertips of those that need to know.  Ensuring more productive actions in these times of reduced budgets, staffing, increased population through refugee movements and overall crime.

HEAR US OUT!

These are grave times and need immediate proactive moves, of which we have the solutions and importantly, necessary where-with-all to accomplish the end goals.

We stand in the spotlight, not sharing all that we know in the public view, as the enemy has ears, eyes, and spies.

So Do WE!

So who do we trust? No one! The Ideology & Cultural Differences

The Ideology & Cultural Differences
So who do we trust?  No one!
by Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global group

This graphic is how the radical Islamic Terrorists spread their words and incite!

The fear of the Lone Wolf or Wolf Pack has returned and did not use technology like a bomb or even a gun.  They used the oldest weapon known to man, a knife or cutting instrument.

Proving that basic methods are effective in spreading terror.  A butcher’s meat cleaver and kitchen knives to inflict death on a single brave man doing his duty for his nation.

Yesterday, terrorism went to yet another level of a Wolf Pack attack.  It can happen anywhere at any time to members of our global society.

People were murdered in cold blood at the heart of Great Britain in London.

This morning all Public Safety departments worldwide will be analyzing the situation and the concerning content of this attack and its far-reaching ramifications.

A little background, terrorism on the streets is relatively new in this manner and Muslim terrorism against the West did not only occurred with the New York City attack on the World Trade Center.  It goes back much further and deeper.

Since the 16th century, there has been a sectarian conflict of varying intensity between Roman Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. This religious sectarianism is connected to a degree with nationalism. Northern Ireland has seen an inter-communal conflict for more than four centuries and there are records of religious ministers or clerics, the agents for absentee landlords, aspiring politicians, and members of the landed gentry stirring up and capitalizing on sectarian hatred and violence back as far as the late 18th century.

William Edward Hartpole Lecky, an Irish historian, wrote: "If the characteristic mark of a healthy Christianity is to unite its members by a bond of fraternity and love, then there is no country where Christianity has more completely failed than Ireland".

Reactions to sectarian domination and abuse have resulted in accusations of sectarianism being leveled against the minority community. It has been argued, however, that those reactions would be better understood in terms of a struggle against the sectarianism that governs relations between the two communities and which has resulted in the denial of human rights to the minority community.

The period from 1969 to 2002 is known as "The Troubles". Nearly all the people living in Northern Ireland identified themselves as belonging to either the Protestant or the Catholic community. People of no religion and non-Christian faiths are still considered as belonging to one of the two "sects" along with churchgoers. In this context, "Protestants" means essentially descendants of immigrants from Scotland and England settled in Ulster during or soon after the 1690s; also known as "Loyalists" or "Unionist" because they generally support politically the status of Northern Ireland as a part of the United Kingdom. "Catholics" means descendants of the pre-1690 indigenous Irish population; also known as "Nationalist" and "Republicans"; who generally politically favor a united Ireland.

Sectarian violence between the two major sects of Islam, Shia, and Sunni, has occurred in countries like Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Lebanon etc. This violent conflict has roots in the political turmoil arising out of differences over the succession to Muhammad. Abu Bakr, a companion of Muhammad, was nominated by Umar and elected as the first Sunni Rightly Guided Caliph.

However, another group felt that Ali, the cousin, and son-in-law of Muhammad, had been designated by Muhammad and is considered by Shia as the first Imam.

Abu Bakr was followed by Umar as caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate, then by Uthman ibn Affan and finally by Ali. Ali's right to rule was challenged by Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan, governor of Syria, who believed that Ali should have acted faster against the murderers of Uthman. The situation deteriorated further when many of those responsible for the death of Uthman rallied behind Ali.

However, later on, both the parties agreed to have someone as a judge between them. This led to the separation of an extremist group known as Kharijites from Ali's army, which pronounced the judgment belonged to God alone. A member of this group later assassinated Ali. At the demise of Muawiyah, he appointed his son Yazid as his successor. The credentials of Yazid were challenged by Ali's son Hussein ibn Ali (and grandson of Muhammad). A battle of Karbala in Iraq led to the martyrdom of Hussein and dozens of others from Ahl al-Bayt (the members of the family of Muhammad).

This tragic incident created deep fissures in the Muslim society. The conflict that had started at a political plane intervened with the dogma and belief systems.

Those who considered Ali to be the true heir to the Caliphate split away from the main corpus of Muslim society and traditions. They developed their distinct sect, known as "Shia" referring to Shian-e-Ali. The majority of Muslims are known as "Sunni" meaning "followers of the Traditions of The Prophet ". They are of the view that the bloody conflict between Ali and Muawiyah was a result of a tragic misunderstanding and regardless of who was wrong, the matter should have been solved peacefully.

Most probably the first real view of the issues and how you must understand the background.

See Something, Say Something - Peel Is More Than Pissed!

See Something, Say Something
Peel Is More Than Pissed!
by Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

The formation of the police force by Sir Robert Peel in 1829  was for the protection of all and was afforded rules, regulations, and monies to attain the protection level of the day.

What has gone wrong?

Cuts, cuts and more cuts whilst the population grows by leaps and bounds through nomadic refugees crossing non-existent borders.

Bringing their ideology and culture, inflicting their opposite religious beliefs by violent means on those born in their own land.

The government sits on their thumbs and reduces over and over again the ability of national police forces to complete the job at hand.

Islamist Terrorism is alive and well on the shores of the United Kingdom and the public knows it and they too say nothing!

People talk while they plan their deadly deeds and always someone knows something, but keep their mouth shut!

Just review the stabbing deaths that are mounting, 20% cut in funds and staffing of the police and knife crimes up some 46%!

Does not make sense!

Then what do we know?  A lot more logical answers than the seats of government insanity!

Protection of citizens is the priority with the other side of the depleted coin being the public which must do their part too!
