Priorities – Truths & Consequences!

Priorities – Truths & Consequences!
By Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

Life’s distractions are blurring or even leading to avoidance of vital issues by the C-Leadership.  CEO’s, CFO’s, COO’s, CTO’s and the Board of Directors.  All hired help by the shareholders which are distracted by their own inner social status and power delusion.  Not a wild or crazy statement, true facts.  Not all of you, though!

Whether you like it or not, it is all a Power Game which continues each and every day in Government Services like the Veteran’s Administration, Social Security, General Services Administration (GSA) and each and every Corporation and Business worldwide.

The dysfunctionality of leading or completing business is disturbing in its own right.  When you realize, if you really care, seeing beyond your own failed contribution of the inadequacies of running a major or minor corporation, then you might have a far better understanding of how success is only a mindset away.

The days of sitting on a gold throne, dictating by shouting and wanting your minions to tremble from the sound of your voice or read your memos as their hands shake, are over!

The largest threat to corporations is being ignored by the C-Leadership due to lack of understanding and ignorance. It is not only Branding, it is the buyers, customers, and clients.  Leave them in a vulnerable position and they will turn on your company like a pack of starving wolves.

In one area alone you are doing exactly that!

It is more than the Age of Aquarius, it is the Computer Age unless you have been that distracted!  Every single solitary action, in general, is driven by a computer program.

It is a Cyber World after all!

There are a minuscule amount of companies that are not using computerization for their financial transactions, inventory control, report generation and data transference from the field of corporate information and eventual storage.  Either within you are storing data with a backup service or outsourcing to a data silo service somewhere.

VM or Virus Malware software is the first line of defense.  Your IT department or outsourced facility needs to be on top of all virus attacks which are going on every single second of the day on all types and sizes of companies.  Albeit automated in most case, once an attack occurs and infiltrates, it is labor intensive and you better have the leadership to understand and be on top of the issues.  Most are not, even the big boys and girls!

It becomes a reactive world and you know that being reactive is a disadvantage, not matter what you do.  The sports analogy is the perfect but overused scenario.  Defending is not efficient and uses more energy, resources, and money to overcome the issues.  Never mind the loss of revenue in a business if downtime happens and it is affecting your clients.  The retailer Target is the perfect example and ongoing.

Resolvement is required and PDQ!

Admission of failure to be proactive and fully understanding the issues at hand is not a doomsday moment.  It simply means you have to recognize that other, who specialize in these subjects that you have no earthly idea about.  Outsourcing your dramatic needs with companies you implicitly trust and who do not speak gobbledygook and have your bottom line in their sights for protection.

Now comes the biggest issue, Data in Motion and where it is coming from!  It is all well and good to have Virus Malware, what about the billions of connections and information sent from outside devices?

It seems we are in love with Passwords, even if they are most shared communicable disaster ever invented!  Yes PTD’s are infected and costing all of us, personal and business wise, billions of dollars and time we can ill-afford to lose, that cannot be clawed back.

Our Laptops, Smart Mobile Phones, and Desktops are chattering back and forth all day long.  Connecting via a password is not a secure answer and everyone is doing it!

Twenty years ago Device DNA was attempted and successful created and has been in place ever since.  CommSmart US’s TRUSTED REMEDY goes beyond what is expected and is a proven European solution to 100% secure connectivity.

Those that believe Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is an issue, you are misinformed! It is not!

As you now know, with TRUSTED REMEDY, we believe in DEVICE DNA, that is removing the human element of failure.  This will of course always continue as humans are never going to change!

The FACTS... TRUSTED REMEDY, a 2-factor authentication, acting as a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in a Private domain at relative zero management!

TRUSTED REMEDY, a two-factor authentication, using your device as the second factor generating a break-through 2 SSL peer to peer communication channel over any untrusted (internet) connection.

The user automatically receives a short-lived device certificate using a corresponding key pair in the range from 2048 through 4096-bit encryption which changes automatically every next event.

The authentication is via Device DNA, made up of the device components.  Short lived access keys configurable from minutes thru hours, completely transparent to the end user and standard server configurations.

TRUSTED REMEDY generates an intrusion proof data in motion channel to protect your all data/video files.

This is the solid foundation for our solutions within CommSmart Global philosophy.

When you can state that all information transmitted via the TRUSTED REMEDY solution is totally secure, even in a Public Wi-Fi Hotspot, then you had better have the goods to prove it and we do, for over twenty years and billions and billions of bits of data being absolutely secure.  Importantly, it is not us that is stating this, our "pen-testing”, which happens every single year proves this beyond the shadow of a doubt.

This is the basis on all we do!  It is the CommSmart Global approach with a solid foundation for today and in the future with all CommSmart Global solutions and services.

This is all achieved with our Patented Proprietary TRUSTED REMEDY data in motion, end to end secure connect via a Device DNA authentication.
CommSmart Global has the solutions and will discuss how we can assist in all facets of your information security.

Be Smart, with CommSmart Global…

Planning With Intelligence vs. Pure Dumb Ideas…

Planning With Intelligence vs. Pure Dumb Ideas…
By Nick Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

Dumb is not my favorite word or description.  There is worse, but it seems this is the most acceptable for the stupidity or arrogance in the world of management.  Their failure to accept that there are people in the world who know more than they do and that they should be listening to all advice and sort through the answers and implement.

No one man or woman knows it all, there are folks that have focused on social problems, utilized their skill-sets, learned from their mistakes and had the guts to listen, accept and implement the results with success over and over again.

The meaning of:

DUMB:
1
: lacking some usual attribute or accompaniment; especially : having no means of self-propulsion <a dumb barge>
2
a : lacking intelligence : stupid
b : showing a lack of intelligence <asking dumb questions>
c : requiring no intelligence <dumb luck>
3
: not having the capability to process data <a dumb terminal>

Why are there so many dumb decisions by so-called quality managers?

It has been said, a limited capacity to see the whole picture -- known as "bounded rationality" -- combined with a faulty ethical compass are two big reasons. We also finds that subordinates are just as guilty of the same weaknesses and that lower management is linked to results manipulation.

For a long time we've asked ourselves, How come smart, rational people carry out short-term schemes and plans that in the long-term undoubtedly are going to sink them and those they serve? The answer is -- we're not rational. We're rational only in a limited sense of the overall capability.

It all starts with the hiring process and the background of the hired individual.  A lax hiring agenda will bite you in the tush (rear end) in the long run and that is one fire that does not go out that easily.

Enough said!

INTELLIGENCE:

1
a (1): the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations: reason; also: the skilled use of reason
(2) : the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one's environment or to think abstractly as measured by objective criteria (as tests)
b Christian Science: the basic eternal quality of divine Mind
C: mental acuteness: shrewdness
2
A: an intelligent entity; especially: angel
B: intelligent minds or mind <cosmic intelligence>
3
: the act of understanding: comprehension
4
A: information, news
B: information concerning an enemy or possible enemy or an area; also: an agency engaged in obtaining such information
5
: the ability to perform computer functions

It lays it out clearly and as I stated previously, no matter who we are, what our station in life is, we are all inquisitive.  It is the voracious appetite for information and the methods we use to attain these facts and the methods we use to satisfy our hunger.

CommSmart Global Group of Companies is the conduit for the gathering of facts.  We start right at the beginning, the street, among the people of the world.

It is the Atmospheric Noise Collection or the Chatter of the Streets where harmless conversation, insider trading information to government anarchists plotting an overthrow of their politicians by violent means takes place. It is just plain down to earth talk, words with different meanings and outcomes.
It is our ability to collect, analyze and report through our proprietary analytic capabilities, which include Next Event Predictability, that has assisted in many differing ways.

From stemming or stopping violent events before they start, to finding out the concerns of the shop floor workers, so management can address the situation before it becomes a major issue that will affect the bottom line.  We work with all, from world governments to corporations on gathering the true facts and reporting.

When you have invented a product or a manufacturing technique, you will protect it via a patent or just by holding the processes as secret information. The inventor has every right to protect their interest.  Others see it as an opportunity to find out more and glean more information regarding your secrets and take a shortcut to their own success.  Yes, attempting to steal your information by any means they can.  It is human nature, just like a dog is never satisfied with its own bone when among a pack, it wants other's bones and will steal, any which way it can.

What rights do we have for information?  Is not what we know, whether it is ours and private, it what we do with the information in real time that counts.  Sadly, not according to what is going on in the world today.

With intelligence goes planning, the ability to utilize the information for the good of a country, citizens or a corporation.  It is a fact that politicians are not good at planning, most are repeating failed history and doubling the risk.  Not my words, history proves time and time again.

Those that have a crisis in their country or company do not operate with crisis management techniques.  Knee jerk reactions get people killed, harmed and the final outcome is not what you expected.

Use those that know and take off the mask of false confidence and ask for the help you need for the sake of the people!

Me, Myself, I...

Me, myself, i…
By Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group

In the beginning you were the only one with an idea, a solution, a product or service.  You toiled away at the house, garden-shed or in the garage and perfected to your satisfaction, your dream.

It was yours, all yours!

Along the route, did you seek advice, discuss, implement others suggestions in your final decision making?  Of course you did, it might have not been direct, but face it, we cannot all know everything can we?

You have 100% of something, your thinking is very simple, you are the only one with this idea and it will make you very rich.  The next step is the hardest, through your closeness to the project you are ignorant of the pit-falls, those that would remove the well thought out ideas and steal them for themselves are hovering at every turn.  You now have to fund the whole idea and open yourself to the Wolves of Wall Street, or at least the local bank or known potential investors.

This is where ME, MYSELF, I… takes a hard blow to the ego. Personal framework is the context we think about the least. As we attempt to circumnavigate the individual or organization’s physical and cultural setting, our own personal perspective filters, simply our view as well as our responses need to be in focus.

Every person has what is called the “ME, MYSELF, I” factor. It is made up of our own personality, experiences, methodology, principles, reserves, and most likely a lot of other points you can think of as well.

Our “ME, MYSELF, I” factor in some cases, helps us succeed, but more often contributes to our failures or at least our diabolic struggles. The reason it is so powerful is that we often don’t really see, or understand it.  Though, maybe we do see it, but don’t want to examine it too closely. It like as a child hearing a noise in our bedroom as we lay there and are frighten to look under the bed, as we have heard about the people who live under us.  Pure “old wives tales” of course!

Our “ME, MYSELF, I” factor acts as a strainer through which we see the rest of the world. If we don’t know how this filter changes our vision, our view of reality is really inaccurate and we will pay the consequences down the road.

So in business, we know that it is a wild and dangerous world out there.  Sure, you get started with your ideas and others monies, hiring people close to you, thinking that they have your same dreams and aspirations.  Do they?  The majority do not and never will.

We are discussing a narcissist as someone who is, metaphorically speaking, "always looking at their own image in the mirror of their own mind.” stated Andrew Cohen

And yet, Cohen expands the definition of narcissism to describe it as "a cultural epidemic," which he strongly associates with the baby boom generation and the emergence of postmodernism. Cohen says that this generation is very different from other generations because "we have grown up in the age where life is really about me...

Once you start in business the world changes and so must you!  The responsibility is deafening and you must remove your embedded earplugs and hear it all, the good, the bad and the ugly.

When one amasses a team, each cog must turn at the precise moment to be a success.  This does not happen overnight and certainly not without strong communications, planning and a positive agenda.  Revision is a key factor in moving forward.  It is the ability to review and respond and this can only be achieved with a team of “WE”.

Our beliefs are clear cut, steer clear of the ME, MYSELF, I… crowd.  Those that use I did this and I did that, and only in their own mind are they a success.  Do not be fearful in challenging such people.  No one has the exclusive on success or failure!

Those so called business leaders that dominate by arrogance and a methodology of a culture of fear can take their ideology and play in their own pit.  Eventually you see right through their façade and stand toe to toe with them.  Better still, improve your game, your employees and your sales or production methods and win over them, with a success that will scar them for live.  Whilst they have been wallowing in their narcissistic irrelevance, you have taken it to the bank!

Just to remind you of what this week is all about…

It is ME or WE Week

Or is it ME or WE are WEAK WEEK?

Narcissists are considered a true liability in business and the corporate world. Their lack of empathy and inherent selfishness helps them rise straight to the top.

Conventionally, the narcissistic personality marked by a grandiose intellect of self and lack of empathy for others considered a liability in the business world. Their arrogance, tendency to envy others and reluctance to take blame or share credit does not recommend narcissists as "team players."

Leadership is pure “WE”, which are YOU?

We shall be addressing how these differences affect you, your company and family.

“When we are at our lowest, we all become wild and crazy in our frantic decision making, all of us are on different levels and personal actions.

You have your 9 thru 5 business face and actions Рthen the after-hours fa̤ade kicks in. You and you alone only know your level of craziness.

There is always the P.T. Barnum in us all. To some, he never manifests, in others, he takes over!

It is those that create, generate and communicate in those common and logical terms, we are firm in our desire for success and listen to all, pluck what we feel is for us and then adapt and succeed.

It is the WE Factor!

Public Approval of Policing? Gone, Vanished or Retrievable?

Public Approval of Policing?
Gone, Vanished or Retrievable?
by Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group - Virtual Crime Center

Sir Robert Peel's third principle:

#3     To recognise always that to secure and maintain the respect and approval of the public means also the securing of the willing co-operation of the public in the task of securing observance of laws.

This third Peelian Principle moves the police community participation and co-operation to the next important step.  It is imperative to secure and maintain the trust and respect of the public for the police is one thing, securing the willing co-operation of the public in terms of observance of the laws is a total other.

The extreme test for willing adherence of, or to the law, is much like the examination for personal integrity.  Integrity or the lack thereof is revealed in situations where an individual chooses a course of action free of coercion or compulsion based solely on a set of principles and values.  This is more common than you think if you are that out of touch.

The ratio of police officers and services to the public (1:500) is such that a police presence throughout the entire community at all times is impossible to maintain. Calls for Service become a severe problem and looked at as a failure of the agencies.

Police patrolling at best, serve as a reminder to the public that failure to observe laws can have repercussions.  If the public has not ingrained the notion of observance of the laws even without a police presence, social order and observance of the laws cannot be maintained.

The role of the police, therefore, is not only to enforce the laws but also to educate the public as to what the rules (laws) are, validate strict observance of the laws themselves and influence the public of the merits and virtues of willingly observing the law.

Sadly the change is in as we have seen globally, there is a lack of Trust, Respect, and Honor for police. America and the U.K. have seen incidents of police upholding the law, challenging individuals and having to defend themselves, under the law and a death occurs, there the story or untrue facts spread via social media and mayhem starts and spreads to other cities.

It is as if there are individuals ready, willing and able to attack authority, the police uniform, in any manner they wish, using misinformation and a degree of nonsensical violence against property and persons.

We expect police officers who are also members of the public to act in a manner that they believe they have the respect of all, they do not!

CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solution Partner believe firmly that Sir Robert Peel’s Nine Peelian Principles stand firm today after 187 years of existence.  Of course, there are differences and the main one is the use of technology alongside these principles.  That is why we will introduce the 10th Peelian Principle at the conclusion of this series.

Social media interactions are so important and CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solutions Partner understand the finger & thumbs approach of communicating using for calls for action of the public.

There lies a massive improvement of the approval of the public, they have a direct link without dialing digits.  They hide behind a Smartphone or tablet/computer screen and the dialogue is honest, deceiving and all with information that was never there before.

Here lie CommSmart Global Groups abilities to know all that is being said and stated via social media with compliant social media monitoring, with crime/predictive analytics and community crime mapping.  This can be enabled within your agencies now!

This, not something that has just been invented and so new it is still in a ‘beta phase’, we have 21 years of creating, refining and success, second to none.

Public Approval of the 'power of police'

Public Approval of the 'power of police'
by Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group - Virtual Crime Center

"To recognise always that the power of the police to fulfil their functions and duties is dependent on public approval of their existence, actions and behaviour, and on their ability to secure and maintain public respect."

This was and is a unique philosophy of policing.

Throughout the world, policing is derived not from fear but almost exclusively from public co-operation with the police, which induces behavior which secures for members of police agencies and maintains the approval, trust, respect and affection of the public.

It refers to the power of the police coming from the common consent of the public, as opposed to the power of the state

Importantly, it does not mean the consent of an individual. No individual can choose to withdraw his or her consent from the police, or from a law.

The duties and functions of the police are also largely universal and include:

1. The protection of life and property,

2. Maintaining peace and good order,

3. The prevention of crime,

4. The detection and apprehension of offenders; and

5. Enforcement of the laws

Without the consent of the public, it would be impossible to maintain the above stipulations.  Sheer numbers play into this as agencies and forces are so small in numbers.

The degree of that public approval is unwavering by how the public views the activities and behaviors of the police. If police are seen as being broadminded, responsible, open and accountable the odds are good that they will earn the approval and respect of the public. If on the other hand, police act in a closed and cautious manner and interpret themselves as being above the law, public trust, respect, and approval will evaporate quickly.

Through their actions police must earn a confident reputation and once netted they must work hard to preserve it. The importance of strict discipline cannot be exaggerated in this regard. The best intentions of police management can so easily be destabilized by the rogue actions of a small number of officers. In terms of public awareness, naught undermines public trust and respect for the police more intensely or more quickly than corruption, unethical and illegal behavior.

Today’s social and unsocial media spreads, truths and lies faster than a speeding bullet globally.  That use to say that a news story is only of interest for one day and normally disappeared.  Today, it is sent and spread globally, posted, tweeted and reposted around the world.  Then the opinions and misunderstandings are started and it garners a life of its own.

Trust and respect in the police can to some mark be measured by the reporting rate of crimes. The percentage of crime that goes unreported is an indication of the extent to which the public feels that reporting will result in a meaningful outcome. In some cases, crime statistics (which are based on reported crime) can show a drop, not because there is less crime but rather because the public has lost faith in the ability of police.

The Mayor London wishes to remove the methods of reporting the crime issues.  The crime rate will still be the same, just reported in an unjust means and manner.

So how do police agencies go about gaining and maintaining the respect and approval of the public? The bottom line is this; the actions of police must be always beyond reproach. The actions of just a few officers can tarnish the reputation of an entire agency. This underscores the importance of strict discipline in policing.

The Rise & Fall & Rise Again of Crime

The Rise & Fall & Rise Again of Crime
by Nicholas Ashton, CEO/CIO, CommSmart Global Group - Virtual Crime Center

If You Missed Part #1 'Lawlessness, To Be or Not To Be! It Affects Us All...' Click here

No matter what statistics state or the media tells you, crime is rising and has changed for the worse.  This is not the social world of your parents or grandparents.  The bombardment of the crime in various degrees is growing at a rate that we shall never catch up on, with many issues left by the wayside or ignored.

Cuts and more cuts at the wrong time are continuing and the 'COPE' is front and center in so many agencies globally.  Not good enough for the expectations of communities and the members of the public.

CommSmart Global Group, a LexisNexis Risk Solutions Partner, is passionate about making the change and has been doing so for over two decades.

Our Accurint Virtual Crime Center is akin to no other tool in the crime fighting stable.  Our hundreds of existing customer base are in awe in the steps we have taken, yes,  giant leaps forward to create databases that integrate with your crime stats, neighboring departments, counties and nationally, without lines of demarcation.

No more 'Go Fish' for information and it is for everyone, beat or ward officers through senior management.  We must not leave out the analytics team and the toolset they now have to support you and the community.

Sir Robert Peel introduced his Nine Peelian Principles and #1:

What has changed from 1829 to today?

We are still charged in the prevention of crime and disorder are we not?

Do you have the real resources to maintain the changes in crime that have occurred?

Criminals in this anti-social world have become more sophisticated and like the guns of choice have better armaments to attack and sadly succeed in scoffing the laws.

Social media is playing a major role in communications and law enforcement is not catching up!  It does not have to be that way, we have the answers with compliant social media monitoring with first class crime/predictive analytics, plus community crime mapping.

It is not just these tools, CommSmart Global Group has the professional services to enable the success.  Our coaching and mentoring by former officers is far beyond just the software, it is the conversations at an understandable level, without the gobbly-gook thrown in!

This is the first Peelian Principle, now ask the questions of today and yesterday.

Ignorance, Burying Your Head In The Sand Or Is It Lack of Testicular Fortitude?

Ignorance, Burying Your Head In The Sand
or Is It Lack of Testicular Fortitude?

People are stealing your stuff!

What is it with you folks?  Are you happy that people want your very personal information, raid your bank account, take away ill-affordable time to reconstitute your life, break-in to your home, steal your corporate data, know the inner secrets of your life, family and company that you built and you just go about life as if nothing of importance has even happened.

WTF!

This is not a game!  This has got to a level while you are sitting and stand by, twiddling your thumbs, as if you can do nothing about it!
You can, we can!  We can!

TRUSTED REMEDY is a Public-Key Infrastructure that takes computer usage to a level of security only previously dreamed of, without the hassle, misunderstanding and complex, time consuming managerial criteria’s, without one iota of compromise.

TRUSTED REMEDY states that we have increased security with our patented proprietary software and passionately protection from the corporate data to the very personal and individual data of everyone.  To say we dislike hackers and phishers is an underestimation!  TRUSTED REMEDY is passionate in the fight and solution to eradicate those lowlifes.

Every time you use your credit/debit card you are risking enormous problems and the banks, retail trade, online shopping, restaurants, in fact, anywhere you use that card you are baiting the hackers, phishers and Man in the Middle Attackers to come get your information and use at their will.

Your corporate data in motion is at risk each and every time you transmit the information.  Your IT department is always in a retroactive mood, fighting the next unsociable event.

It is the proactive approach of TRUSTED REMEDY and our original creators that continues to this day.  We have incorporated industry standard solutions which have stood the test of time, you know what they say, “if it an ‘it broken, don’t fix it or touch it”.

It does not have to be that way, always fighting the unseen enemy, those that hide behind screens, smiling, rubbing their hands as they inflict pain and agony on us all.

This is not marketing talk, it is down to earth advice to stop these morons and protect you from these events.

Yesterday, my business partner received an email from a man that is an IT Consultant and Software Developer and works for a major data transmission company.  I have extracted from his unsolicited comment:

“Thanks for the information. I looked over the stuff you send me and it looks interesting. The TRUSTED REMEDY system has some good selling points, especially the fact that it could be integrated in existing systems without replacing an entire system.

This is usually the major hurdle you have to overcome, but it looks like that this is something you can add to your existing IT infrastructure and is easy to implement.”

We thank him for his unsolicited honesty.  Yes, TRUSTED REMEDY is simplistic and can integrate with any existing system with so much easy, it is a welcome solution to work with.

If you make things easy to implement and have virtually zero management, people regard the results even more.

What else do we say?  You know what is happening every moment of the day, these criminals, cyber-terrorists are costing us all billions of dollars and the solution is right here on these pages.
