You might think that does not pertain to you in your location, but it does!  They are ruthless at law-breaking, thinking they have a place in their budget for slapped wrists and paying a fine.  Whilst they disrupt local life, they could give a hoot about you and me or the simple comfort of our lives. We are just a nuisance or a ‘piss-ant’ to them if we cross their path.

NO MORE!

Living downtown is different, parking, shopping, but it has great advantages until your space is invaded by law-breaking construction companies and whoever hired them to complete a project.

The back-story is simple and not complicated in you thinking how such organizations can get away with the invasion of your space, especially overnight with major noise, not just some noise, we are talking pouring building/construction debris down a shoot from 11^th floor into dump trucks every few minutes.  During the day it is bad enough, but at night breaking some’s sleep is a total No, No!

It started at the beginning of the week and was reported to the local Des Moines Building and Permit department.  They rapidly replied with this email:

Nick,

We have received your complaint about overnight construction activity at Hotel Fort Des Moines. We have contacted the contractor performing the demolition work and made them aware of the City of Des Moines noise ordinance requirements. No construction activity can occur between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.  

If future construction noise occurs after these hours, complaints can be referred to the City of Des Moines Police Department at their non-emergency number at 515-283-4811.

Note that they contacted the contractor to inform them.

The contractor, Baxter Construction of Des Moines, and Hawkeye Hotels know the law and said ‘to hell with it’.  They continued the next night, last night!

At 11 p.m. I was woken by the loud noise of debris going down a shoot into a dump truck.  I got dressed to make sure I was not imagining the sound that broke my sleep.  Sure enough, they were continuing demolition that the City of Des Moines had informed them to stop the day before.

I called the police at approximately 11:25 p.m., Officer Kelly arrived at approximately 11:40 p.m.  I explained the issue and informed him the City told me to call law enforcement should it happen again.

The officer drove his car to the side of the building to speak with the staff.  I walked over and was asked by the contractor’s representative if I was with the City as if they were expecting it and proceeded to make a phone call.

I responded, ‘No, just a citizen that wants to f#cking sleep’!  Officer Kelly asked me to step to the other side of the road, rightfully so, I shook Kelly’s hand and left.

I called the City and left a message of the occurrence.

It does not end there, the noise started again at 4:45 a.m.  I went out to check, sure enough, a truck was in place, no noise while I was there.  A person stepped out, viewed me and walked briskly inside.  There was no more noise.

I passed the Davis Building which has security officers there all night and asked them about the noises.  One security officer stated that since Monday night it has been horrendous and totally annoying, they are much closer so could hear it louder.

As I am part of a company that deals in data, both public and criminal information and through our clients, can and do have access to court documents of all business.  It amazing to find the citations, fines and the law-breaking companies involved in this project have against them.  Not good for them at all.  It now has shown me what and who we are dealing with, law scoffers who careless about rules or regulations.

It is a known fact that scoffing laws like this is a ‘Gateway’ to larger criminal activity, even breaking simple safety OSHA laws.

It is believed that the state has given money to this project for restoration cost.

This will not be the end of this, as they think there is no power in one person, WRONG!

There are more issues that will occur and will be dealt with as they happen.  The City of Des Moines is watching I believe…

Fifty-Two months ago I wrote the following regarding eavesdropping, listening to the sound and chatter of the streets. It seems politicians, Presidents and Prime Ministers have failed yet again.

Not only on the pulse of the people regarding political scenes, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and terrorists too!

This will not only bite the ass of America and Europe, it will bring unrest to their shores as well.

We are not here to just promote our company and innovations, we are here to save lives!  Like a President, We are disruptive too!

Eavesdropping is the act of secretly listening to the private conversation of others without their consent, as defined by Black's Law Dictionary. This is commonly thought to be unethical and there is an old adage that "eavesdroppers seldom hear anything good of themselves...eavesdroppers always try to listen to matters that concern them."

In researching the history, we find, Anglo-Saxon law punished eavesdroppers, who skulked in the eavesdrop of another's home, with a fine; the eavesdropper was also sometimes called, the eavesdrop. Eavesdrop also means a small low visibility hole near the entrance to a building (generally under the eaves) which would allow the occupants to listen in on the conversation of people awaiting admission to the house. Typically this would allow the occupant to be prepared for unfriendly visitors.

Early telephone systems shared party lines which would allow the sharing subscribers to listen to each other's conversations. This was a common practice in rural America which resulted in many incidents and feuds.  In fact, I had one at the farm in England and was that fun!

Our means of communicating have changed in a very short period of time, we have gone from Telephone Party Lines to Smart Mobile Phones, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) to Satellite Phones.  What about just overhearing conversations, the spoken word?  They are all methods of garnering information being discussed by others and then relayed in one form or another to a central repository.

Sadly, most information is placed in a hopper, silo or storage facility until someone decides we better take a look.  The Hopper Mentality is and has caused too many missed opportunities for successful outcomes.  In fact is has been attributed to successful terror actions against nations.

In the increased clandestine world of government and corporate information gathering, things have not really changed that much.  Yes, we have the Internet, with the good, the bad and the ugly pitfalls of information sharing.  Sadly, collecting information in the field still takes too much time in it being transported, analyzed and acted upon.  Why?

As we have seen over the last few weeks and months, the knife is a killer!

The knife, shiv, dagger or even a formed object in the shape of the blade, use to stab someone with intent to do bodily harm or kill.  There use has been around since man was still in his rock cave.  Firstly used in hunting to kill an animal and from there we went to killing your enemy or a disliked person.  The knife is not just used for the kill, it maims and scars, the latter is to show others to be warned.

If you want to kill or maim, the knife is silent, concealable and effective.

Europe has suffered increased attacks way before ISIS was headlined dripped in blood.  It is far easier to obtain a knife or something honed from an object than purchasing a gun.  The power of the knife is all on the wrist and positioning.  Close proximity is required which in most cases is the element of surprise.

Great Britain was forced to issue ‘Stab Vests’ to all law enforcement officers with the influx of immigrants and refugees from Europe over the last twenty years.  The knife is their weapon of choice in most fights or arguments.  It

is a natural part of these people’s code of aggression.  It has increased dramatically over the last two years and not stopping there.

Along with the knife, domestic violence against women has escalated beyond belief.  These immigrants and refugees are a different culture, mindset and have no respect for the female in society, she is owned, subservient and abused.  If Muslim, they are governed by their faith, which includes Sharia law, which cannot be a part of any nation’s law other than one that is of the Muslim faith.

America, you are already witnessing an increase of these issues, knifing and domestic violence which is growing by leaps and bounds.  San Diego County, California has taken in more refugees than any other region of California for the past seven years, according to state data.  It has also brought underlying problems that are not being addressed due to financial issues.

What do you know about these people?  There is no data and today we have to have the data to be able to address the concerns.  Not just criminal, education or health information which impacts us all.  As we are seeing in the decline of what was great communities and cities something is missing and must be addressed with solid information.

Do you let total strangers into your home?  Of course, you don’t!  If they are with a good friend, then you trust your friend’s judgment, who has already vetted these people and cleared the way for bringing to your home.  This is not happening by the Federal Government,  States, Counties, and Cities are accepting these people without any knowledge whatsoever.

Hateful, sadistic, bullying, downright disgusting and insightful are just a few descriptions of this phenomenon called Social Media.  Acceptance of these actions is commonplace and it seems everyone is involved in some form or another.

Hiding behind a keyboard, computer screen, Smart Phone and typing your sadistic comments on a situation, person or an event does nothing more than stir the mire and goad someone else to take drastic actions, including killing someone or encouraging somebody to commit suicide.  What happened to the quality of life?

The users of Facebook, Twitter and all other social so-called platforms in the majority, are ignorant of the effect of their positions on subjects, people, and situations.  It is those

lowlife morons that have no understanding of reality and the real meaning of their actions.  Parents are responsible or actually failing in understanding that teaching their child to use social media platforms to be hurtful and downright bullies have to stop.

It is this acceptability of being a nasty bastard that is literally killing society and everyone is thumbing by!

Thumbs and fingers of mindless morons are responsible for the downward spiral of society.  It is not just texting while driving that is a killer, it is words and actions of the bullies in business and the education system.  It is Time to clean up and have the full understanding of your actions.  It is nothing to smile about.

On the other side of the coin is the usefulness of social media.  Yes, it does bring us instant information that can of enormous use and we must weigh the benefits of such.

The other darker side is its use by criminals, drug dealers, and gangs.  Yes, they use it too!

Violation of your property, your home, business, the place you live, sleep and in the case of your business, where you work diligently every single day.

What are the safety factors against the major increase in the burglary or property crime of residences and businesses during the Spring and Summer months?

Community law enforcement officers are constantly telling the homeowners and businesses of the issues and how they need to protect themselves.  In the majority of cases, it falls on deaf ears.  Selective hearing kicks in until it happens to those that have been ignoring the possibility and it has now become a reality.

It is a "YOU" problem!  It is YOUR house and goods and chattels, YOUR business and tools to do your daily job, so it is YOU that needs to protect those things that are precious to you and required to earn a living. 

It is gangs of adults (young men and women) who are cultivating relationships with much younger teens to train them to break-in to neighborhood residences whilst most people are at work.  Then at night, they turn their ill-gotten criminal education and successes to vulnerable businesses.  

It is the Fagan Syndrome, for those who read Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

They walk through neighborhoods wearing a backpack and looking like any other school kids just passing through.  Far from it! They are scouting the area and planning on the house which looks unoccupied and an easy target.  

They go to a target house front door, knocking or ringing the bell when there is no answer, they either kick in the front door or go around back, breaking the glass sliding door. They are prepared to ransack your house and have garbage bags in the backpacks, which they fill with your personal possessions and will sell for drugs etc.  

Importantly who is buying the stolen property and continuing the criminal cycle? 

Are you ready for the on-coming nightmare?  

So you have an alarm system, all that tells you is that someone has got into your house and in most cases does not stop them at all.  It is a matter of time that the lowlife criminal has to glean valuables and disrupt your life.  It is same for a business burglary as well.  Police response times are growing and the thieves know this so well.

Law enforcement will come and take your report and the hopes of a satisfactory solution as it stands is slim to none!

If you would only be proactive in protecting your property, not leaving valuables in your car.  Not leaving the garage door open or a computer/briefcase inside your vehicle.  It is anything of value to you that they want and you oblige all the time!

I do not know why I am telling you this, as you do not listen and only complain when it happens to you and it will.

Your community liaison officers are there to help, assist and advise.  It will only make a change if you put into action what they recommend and honestly, it is not an expense to enact logic! 

Don't come crying to law enforcement when it happens to YOU!

It is not just about the ego of the closing of the deal, it is in all that we do.

Since civilization communicated, weather, smoke signals, drums, the carrier pigeon or even the 'message in a bottle', never has there been so much vindictiveness as of today.

The 'Close' or the 'crossing of the line', it is all about the 'win'.  Cheating, using unethical means is not something new, social or unsocial media is now a weapon of low life choice.  Taking an issue which they really do not have all the information or knowledge of, then expanding and exploiting for devious, bullying means is now common practice.

Threatening writings or gestures are the new bullying ego trip. Those with a cause are using this means, just like the cyber scammers with pathetic emails of possible fortunes to give you. They rely on the naivety of the few and exploit their vulnerability.

Just like the ACLU and those entrenched in using history to place fear regarding heritage or ethnic concerns, like slavery, racial tension or color of skin at the forefront of society to further their cause.  Sadly they are doing more harm when the lies are revealed!

Now we have an even closer concern of the LGBT world.  It should be a separate concern, this transgender or transitioning is or should be a private matter and has no place in the spotlight.  Though, there are those that believe by making it an issue or blowing out of proportion with so-called incidents, without all the 'real' facts being known, is a social concern.

I will not discuss the latest attempt to draw attention and try and ruin a city and it's residents with lies and exaggerations.  The potential damage, in fact, will backfire and the mess will be rather annoying for the fools who think bt protesting and causing social disruption will be a stain on what should be an 'open' issue and not one of lies and innuendo.

Just think for yourself how it uses to be and not the unsocial turmoil attempts by sad miscreants who have no class.
